The Malt House is a GOLD three star inn located in the centre of Berkeley which lies in the centre of the Vale of Berkeley. Located between Gloucester and Bristol, Berkeley is situated just off the A38, 8 miles south from junction 13 and 5 miles north of junction 14 of the M5.
The local attractions include Berkeley Castle, Jenner Museum and Cattle Country, a family attraction. Slimbridge Wet Wildfowl Trust is four miles from Berkeley.
The Malt House was most probably at one time a farmhouse. The earliest records show that it started as a cider house in about 1808 known as The Ship. It has changed its name and owners many times since, but in 1990 it was known as The Bird in Hand and had a major refurbishment to its current form.The name was changed in 2000 to The Malt House and is owned by the Burdett family.
